System Administrator Senior

Job Description

The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Senior System Administrator is responsible for administration, maintenance, and testing of all Navy’s Enterprise Tactical Training Network (NETTN) client and server infrastructure. This infrastructure is used to support the development, testing, and delivery of enterprise-wide modeling and simulation applications and services for the NCTE.

Work in close coordination with the Enterprise Engineering team to update, monitor and maintain servers and workstations used throughout the enterprise. Perform Microsoft Windows server administration, manage GPOs, create/modify DHCP reservations, perform patching and STIG’ing, as well as, author standard operating procedures, train junior personnel and perform Tier 2 technical support. A successful candidate must be able to work independently as well as work within a team.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Information Systems or related discipline, or equivalent education and experience plus 5+ years of experience in systems administration. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 10 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience for positions involving new technology or labor market shortages as reflected by market survey data.

  • Strong expertise with Microsoft Active Directory 2008/2012, including domain administration; creating, testing, and implementing group policies; and maintaining user and computer objects.

  • Administering the company’s enterprise telephone system - (Voice Over IP).

  • Monitoring and developing procedures for server backups.

  • Maintaining multi-site network operations/software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance.

  • Strong ability to effectively test/evaluate network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements.

  • Documenting internal processes and procedures related to duties and responsibilities assigned.

  • Business continuity and disaster recovery planning and facilitating testing

  • Participates in special projects as required.

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Participates in special projects as required.

  • Provides guidance to less experienced Network Administrators.

  • Performs additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods, and techniques used in network administration and support.

  • Security + and Linux+ or Microsoft certification
     

Must hold or be able to obtain and be able to maintain an Active DoD Secret security clearance.
