Job Summary
The Navy Continuous Training Environment (NCTE) Information Security Engineer is responsible for creating Assessment and Authorization (A&A) packages on multiple networks and systems.
The Security Systems Engineer will routinely create the documentation and practices of various engineering disciplines to develop engineering deliverables for A&A packages. The engineer will create and update A&A Engineering deliverables with broad direction by leveraging available tools and resources. The engineer will be responsible for creating the concept of operations (CONOPS), disaster recovery plan (DRP) and business continuity plans. The engineer will update and maintain information on: accreditation boundary diagrams, hardware and software assets, ports protocols and services, cross domain solutions and assets external to the network. The engineer will perform threat analysis, assessment of 8500.2/800-53 r4 Information Assurance Controls and POA&M’s indicating when open items will be addressed. The Engineer will remain up to date on the latest DISA STIGS (Security and Technical Implementation Guides), HBSS and ACAS practices. The engineer's deliverables will meet the standards of the NCTE Information Systems Security Managers expectations.
Qualifications and Skills
2+ years of experience in network or IT engineering and operations.
Strong experience in network architecture and packet level protocol concepts (WAN/LAN protocols, complex IP addressing, protocol security analysis, encryption techniques)
Capable of using network and IT management tools to gather device information required to draft network diagrams
Experienced drafting network and IT topologies
Experience managing and administering core IT services including Active Directory, Exchange, and Windows Server
Experience with HBSS and Retina/ACAS assessment capabilities
Experienced with common enterprise network service implementations and network architecture principles
Security + Certification required
CCNA or MSCE Certification, a plus
Must be a US citizen, currently hold and be able to maintain a Secret Security Clearance
