Systems Engineer
Job Description
The NCTE Systems Engineer participates in the design, configuration and the depiction of NCTE and Live Training Range environments. The Systems Engineer will be tasked with making sure new solutions meet enterprise standards. The Systems Engineer will create artifacts describing the technical environment that are carefully developed for high clarity and wide consumption.
Specific tasks include:

Development of technical and process standards for NCTE and Live Training Range systems

Creating materials communicating standards in formats that a clear and widely accessible

Reviewing engineering proposals for compliance with technical and process standards
-
Serving on Integrated Project Teams (IPTs) to help guide development to meet standards

Technical standards will be drafted in a wide spectrum of areas:

Cybersecurity
-
Software development
-
Networking
-
DOD C4I
-
DOD Combat systems
-
-
-
Creating technical artifacts including
-
OV-1, SV-1 top level views of NCTE and Live Ranges
-
Topic specific depictions that convey targeted concepts through abstract visuals
-
Systems depictions showing software and hardware data input and output
-
Depictions of technical process
-
System description lists
-

Qualifications
The following experience sets / skills are desired for the NCTE Systems engineer:
-
Experienced at reading and understanding the following types of documents
-
Network diagrams
-
System dataflow
-
System conops
-
Ports Protocols and Services
-
Military Networked warfare depictions
-
-
Highly organized and capable of completing configuration management tasks
-
Ability to draft network or system diagrams on multiple levels from very detailed to very abstract.

Experienced with TCP/IP networking
-
Familiar with RMF and some cybersecurity concepts
-
Some experience with coding or scripting
-
Some experience with System administration
-
Familiarity with military combat and C4I systems, especially Navy
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or related discipline plus 5 to 10 years of directly related experience. In some cases, educational requirements may be adjusted or waived for more than 5 years applicable work experience. Work experience may be adjusted for highly specialized knowledge or uniquely applicable experience.
