Job Summary

The NCTE is a USFF/PACFLT capability managed by NSWC Corona that provides a virtual range complex that integrates Navy simulation and stimulation systems into a core simulation environment allowing Navy forces to train and

experiment in virtual worldwide locations with realistic weapons and command, control, communications, computer, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (C4ISR) systems, and operationally relevant situations and interactions. The NCTE integrates legacy shore and ship‐based training systems at USN, USMC, and Coalition locations worldwide.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for NetBackup Administration tasks.

  • Assist in the creation of multiple Linux servers and workstations for local and detachment sites: DNS servers, DHCP servers, ACAS systems, jump boxes, personal Linux workstations.

  • Extensively test, refine, and update a large bash script used to verify and correct Standard Technical Implementation Guidelines (STIG) findings to verify compliance for RedHat® Enterprise Linux 6.

  • Fixes logical errors, syntax errors in sed expressions, and misinterpretation by the program of the results of commands.

  • Submit Configuration Change Requests (CCR) to decommission servers, as needed.

  • Perform system hardening according to Security tecnical

  • Create bash scripts to help perform everyday tasks more efficiently.

  • Performing system automation using ansible

  • Create a draft Plan of Actions and Milestones (POAM). Requested ACAS scans on all the Linux servers. Worked with a Senior Linux Administrator to eliminate vulnerabilities.

  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot Docker

  • Perform system hardening according to Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGS)

  • Utilize a RedHat® Satellite server to deploy patches to the Red Hat environment

  • Utilize a RedHat® Satellite server to run the Open Scap audit tool on the Linux servers.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Very strong experience with technical topics

  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP networking and enterprise architecture design

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)

  • Self-motivation and ability to work independently

  • Basic knowledge of Virtualization (VMWARE Preferred)

  • Experience interacting with DOD customers

  • Be able to acquire or hold a US DOD Secret Clearance
    Ability to meet the requirements for an IAM III as specified in the DoD 8570 within 6 months of start

  • 4 + Years of experience or B.S in related discipline
